Metropolitan See of Moldova makes recommendations to believers, in context of appearance of COVID-19 cases

Chisinau, 10 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Metropolitan See of Moldova has come up with recommendations for the believers, in the context of the appearance of COVID-19 cases. The institution asked the clergymen to observe the provisions issued by the public administration as to the hygiene and health.
A press release issued by the Metropolitan See of Moldova reads that the clergymen are recommended that the surfaces of objects and icons are permanently washed, cleaned and disinfected with disinfectants based on chlorine and alcohol, as well as the permanent airing of rooms.
“At the same time, we bring to believers’ knowledge that, on the period of the Lent, they are able to take the Communion also on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturday, so that, those who can do this, take the Communion on these days, in order to diminish the crowd in churches on Sundays,” the communiqué reads.
Today afternoon, the number of people infected with COVID-19 increased to 3, all cases being imported. Also today, the authorities informed that that all schools, universities and kindergartens from Moldova are closed from as of 11 March 2020. Also, decision-makers took the decision to cease the flights to and from Italy, ban the operators of air companies from taking onboard passengers who travel from Italy, Iran, China, South Korea to Moldova, obliging the air operators to inform passengers of flights, who embarked in Italy, Iran, China and South Korea, including those who transited these countries, to Moldova about the need to declare on their own responsibility information provided for in the epidemiological card and about the placement in quarantine at home for a 14-day period.
The first case of COVID-19 was registered in Moldova on 7 March, in a woman who had returned by an airship from Italy.
