Moldovan electoral body to take measures of preventing infection with coronavirus for new parliamentary elections due in central city

Chisinau, 11 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) will undertake caution measures, in order to ensure an electoral process without dangers at the polls from Hancesti, schedule for 15 March 2020.
The CEC head, Dorin Cimil, today said that the Commission’s representatives would intervene to ensure a checked flow of voters, in order to avoid the cram and the presence of a number of more 50 people in the same room.
Also, Dorin Cimil said the institution he led would issue a circular letter with all needed instructions, in order to initiate concrete measures of protection of both voters and members of the polling stations.
The head of the Central Electoral Commissions made the specifications, given that the Moldovan authorities had banned all public events in the country, because of the increase in the number of patients infected with COVID-19.
The new parliamentary elections from the uninominal electoral district No 38 will be held on 15 March 2020. The MP seat remained vacant, after Alexandru Botnari, elected lawmaker in the district No 38, had resigned, being in incompatibility of offices.
