Chisinau, 11 March /MOLDPRES/ - The government of Moldova, at a today’s meeting, approved the amendment of normative acts. According to Justice Minister Fadei Nagacevschi, ‘’this draft was worked out in the context of the fight against coronavirus and is meant to strengthen the state’s legal capacities in such cases.’’

Under this decision, an article of the Criminal Code was amended and a new norm was introduced, which will sanction the people who do not observe the measures of prophylaxis, prevention and combating of the epidemic diseases.

At the same time, the deliberately false or incomplete presentation of data or refusal to unveil the data necessary for filling in the epidemiological card is sanctioned. Decision-makers will also intervene in the provisions of the law on the protection of personal data, so that the authorities can operate with this data, if the public health is endangered.

In the context, Prime Minister Ion Chicu said that these amendments were needed, as in the process of combating the spread of the new-type coronavirus COVID-19, decision-makers had found out that, ‘’we do not have, in general, leverages to persuade the residents to observe the authorities’ requirements.

Also, the PM demanded that the State Chancellery submits this draft to the parliament as soon as possible, ‘’hoping that it will be urgently approved.’’
