Moldovan PM chairs cabinet meeting

Chisinau, 11 March /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today chaired a cabinet meeting and the agenda included 12 subjects, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The PM started the meeting by mentioning the cases of infection with the new-type virus in Moldova. He also referred to the compulsoriness of the decisions taken on the platform of the National Extraordinary Public Health Commission. The epidemic COVID-19 has hit over 100 states already. Moldova’s authorities act in close cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO).
The prime minister appealed to all people to observe the recommendations by the authorities in charge of public health, especially the ones concerning the self-isolation and quarantine. The measures decided by the authorities, such as the ceasing of the education process in schools, kindergartens, colleges and universities, or the ceasing of more air flights, trigger discomfort, but are absolutely necessary in the conditions of the present epidemiological situation.
Ion Chicu also touched upon the visit by Prime Minister of Hungary Victor Orban and the intention to sign a strategic partnership between Moldova and Hungary.
Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu presented for approval a draft law meant to ensure the non-discriminatory treatment in case of access to medical services. The draft will give possibility to the people who reached the standard retirement age to hold the status of insured person.
Minister Usatii unveiled for approval a programme on distribution of the means of the Road Fund for the national public roads for 2020. The state budget law allocates 1.718 million lei to the road fund. Seven bridges will be capitally repaired or reconstructed.
Minister Voicu presented a draft law on the amendment of the regulation on the driver’s licence, organization and holding of the exam for getting the driver’s licence and conditions for allowing to the road traffic. The draft sees the use of automated registers of the Public Services Agency and Interior Ministry for checking the lack of restrictions applied on the right to drive, excluding the requirement on the presentation of the copy of the identity card and changes the procedure of re-getting the driver’s licence.
Minister Perju unveiled a draft on the abrogation of the restrictive measures introduced on the import of birds from Ukraine, in order to prevent the introduction of the bird flu virus.
Minister Nagacevschi presented for approval a draft which toughens the sanctions for the ‘’Spread of epidemic diseases.’’ The non-observance of the measures of prevention or combating epidemic diseases will be sanctioned with fine worth up to 1,000 conventional units (up to 50,000 lei) or imprisonment up to 3 years.
