Moldovan agriculture ministry instructs more measures to ensure health of farming sector's employees

Chisinau, 17 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry (MADRM) comes up with more recommendations, in the context of the establishment of the state of emergency in Moldova, the need to prevent the spread of the new-type coronavirus (COVID-19), as well as instructions of the National Commission for Emergency Situations, in order to ensure the health and labour security of the employees from agricultural enterprises.
According to MADRM’s recommendations, ‘’the leaders must limit at the level of the agricultural enterprises the direct interaction of the staff in the specific activities, in order to reduce the risk of disease, with the maintaining of the level of the current activity through establishing a differentiated schedule of work; limiting, as far as possible, of travels of staff members outside the enterprises, excepting the categories of personnel whose activities need presence in the field; instructing measures of rooms’ hygienization, etc.’’
„Schedule the starting of the spring agricultural campaign through the supply of the enterprise/farm with needed quantities of diesel, seeds, fertilizers, etc. Contact the contractual providers and establish schedules according to hours and days of planned carrying out of deliveries necessary for the carrying out of the agricultural campaign,’’ sources from the Agriculture Ministry said.
Also, the employees must observe the authorities’ recommendations (socialization with the preservation of the distance between people, disinfection of hands and work surfaces from workshops and agricultural equipments which are touched by hands). Also, they should be endowed with proper devices of individual protection, among which overalls/shirts, disposable aprons, footwear worn on the usual one, cloves, masks.
In the case of the enterprises with a big volume of season works and which have a large number of staff (permanent, seasonal, daily), the work will be organized in shifts, so that the personnel does not intersect. At the same time, decision-makers will ensure the accommodation of the staff in the farm for a longer period of time, by ensuring the conditions of living and nourishment for them.
These recommendations are enforceable at the level of agricultural enterprises and refer to the staff employed, as well as to the normal carrying out of the activities specific for the spring agricultural campaign.
