Thirty cases of COVID-19 recorded in Moldova

Chisinau, 17 March /MOLDPRES/ - There are 30 cases of COVID-19 in Moldova. One more case of coronavirus was confirmed in Moldova today. Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu made statements to this effect following a meeting of the single command centre for the management of the crisis triggered by the coronavirus.    

According to Dumbraveanu, this case is imported. At the same time, the minister specified that an exceptional case had been registered today, when a person lied in Romania, alleging that he is infected with COVID-19, in order to be brought home by the Mobile Emergency Service for Resuscitation and Extrication (SMURD). The minister said this case was investigated and the concerned person would be sanctioned.  

The official called for civic responsibility and solidarity and urged the citizens to stay at home and observe the authorities’ recommendations.  

For his part, PM Ion Chicu informed that the forced vacation in the education system, imposed by the quarantine, would be extended by one more week. At the same time, the Moldovan authorities have managed to de-block at more borders the transport of goods of operators from Moldova, talks are held with banks and the enterprises which provide public utilities, for them to find solutions, so that the economic agents and the residents are not hit in crisis situations.

Attending the meeting, President Igor Dodon gave assurances that the authorities would take efforts, so that Moldova gets out of the emerged situation with minimal losses.  

The parliament today approved the draft government decision on the declaring of the state of emergency on the entire territory of Moldova on the period 17 March – 15 May 2020.  

On the period of the state of emergency, the Commission for Emergency Situations of Moldova will issue instructions, in order to implement more measures, which are compulsory and executory for the heads of the central and local public administration authorities, economic agents and public institutions, as well as for other citizens staying in Moldova.
