Amendments to law on regime of state of emergency, of siege and war enter into force in Moldova

Chisinau, 17 March /MOLDPRES/ - The decree on the promulgation, as well as the law on the amendment of the Law No 212/2004 on the regime of the state of emergency, of siege and war have been published in the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial). The document entered into force today.
The document sees that the text ‘’adoption, amendment or abrogation of the organic laws and of the electoral legislation’’ was excluded from the Article 4, paragraph (2) of the old law.
By completing the Articles 22, 24 and 25 with the syntagm ‘’exercises other powers’’, the powers of Moldova’s Commission for Emergency Situations, Service for Civilian Protection and Emergency Situations and Interior Ministry will be extended during the period of the state of emergency, proceeding from the specific circumstances of each case. The extension of the competences of the institutions in charge of the state of emergency is needed, so that they are able to undertake/establish also other emergency measures, if necessary.
The amendments made are aimed at ensuring the best and efficient management of the situations circumscribed to the area of enforcement of the law’s provisions, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, announced by the World Health Organization.
