First death of COVID-19 registered in Moldova

Chisinau, 18 March /MOLDPRES/- A 61-year-old woman, who returned from Italy and infected with COVID-19, died last night at the Republican Hospital. The patient who had several chronic illnesses was intubated for two days, and last night she had heart attack. Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu made the statement today.
So far, 30 cases of COVID-19 have been registered, and 76 others are suspected of being infected with this virus. Among the 30 confirmed patients are a child and two teenagers.
"This loss of a human life should make us to act together and determine the medical system to fight for every life," Dumbrăveanu added.
The first patient with COVID-19 feels better and awaits the confirmation tests in order to be released from the hospital.
Yesterday the parliament adopted the Decision on declaring the state of emergency throughout the country from 17 March to 15 May 2020.
During the state of emergency, the Commission for Emergencies will issue provisions for the implementation of several measures, which are mandatory and enforceable for heads of central and local public administration authorities, economic agents, public institutions, as well as for citizens and other people in the country.
