Moldovan police impose fines worth 800,000 lei to people failing to comply with authorities' requirements

Chisinau, 18 March /MOLDPRES/ - The police have registered 38 official reports and imposed fines worth over 800,000 lei to the citizens who had not complied with the authorities’ recommendations, since the approval of the concerned decisions by the Commission for Emergency Situations.
According to the police, 33 reports were compiled for economic agents which had not complied with the requirements and measures imposed by the Commission for Emergency Situations and five official reports are against private people who failed to observe measures of preventing the virus.
The Interior Ministry (MAI) informed that, through its subdivisions, it would continue ensuring the public order and safety, including the road traffic safety. The employees policemen and carabineers will patrol and monitor the administrative territories, public areas and activities of monitoring the people who are in self-isolation and quarantine.
At the same time, policemen and carabineers will inform the citizens about the risks of infection with COVID-19, the measures recommended by the authorities and about the risks they are exposed to, if they do not observe them.
The police will supervise also the work of economic agents, will check whether they observe the measures imposed and will intervene with the imposing of fines, if they are infringed. Also, law-enforcers, in cooperation with the local public administration , will verify the economic agents and will make sure whether the latter ceased or not the work, according to the authorities’ requirements, and those who do not comply, will be fined.
The police will monitor also the flow of passengers, checking whether the restricting of the number of persons carried is observed. Posts of restricting the road transport were set in the settlements where quarantine had been declared.
The MAI employees will continue patrolling nearby commercial markets, in places for public’s access, entertainment areas, stations and bus terminals. They will intervene, demanding that the citizens observe the protection measures, public transport drivers limit the number of people at 60 per cent and economic agents and other institutions not endanger the lives of employees, ignoring the legal requirements imposed on the period of state of emergency.
