About 100 people from Moldova suspected of being infected with COVID-19

Chisinau, 20 March /MOLDPRES/- The number of cases of COVID-19 in Moldova is still 49, of which 28 are of import and 21 with local transmission. At the same time, about 100 people are suspected of being infected with the new coronavirus. Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu made the statement today.

Currently, 43 patients are hospitalized at Toma Ciorbă hospital. Seven of them are in serious condition, the rest with positive dynamics.

The official said that yesterday at the hospital of the Ministry of Health a person died following a heart attack, but the death is not associated with COVID-19.

During the last 24 hours, the doctors in the ambulance had over 2,000 requests, and almost 90 patients, including 14 children are suspected of COVID-19.

The minister urged citizens to respect the recommendations of the authorities and not to complicate the work of the medical system and doctors.

According to the authorities, cases of COVID-19 were registered in Chisinau, Hâncești, Soroca, Râșcani. In Hâncești district two villages were quarantined after a woman died of COVID-19. Also yesterday, in the Italian press, information appeared that a Moldovan woman died of coronavirus.

The parliament adopted on Tuesday the decision on declaring the state of emergency throughout the country from 17 March to 15 May 2020.

During the state of emergency, the National Commission for Emergencies issues provisions for the implementation of several measures, which are obligatory and enforceable for the heads of central and local public administration authorities, economic agents, public institutions, as well as for citizens and others.
