Chisinau, 20 March /MOLDPRES/ - The station for collecting and pumping water from Vadul lui Voda (Chisinau municipality) works as normal; the water level is of 9.5 metres and the Moldovan capital’s supply with water is out of any danger. Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Minister Ion Perju has made statements to this effect after he had visited the station on 19 March.

According to the official, a permanent monitoring is needed, ‘’in order to notice how the station works and what is the Dniester river water level, given that hydrological drought is recorded all over the country.’’

„It would be ideal for the water level to be of more than 10 metres; thus, the energy expenses for the station would also be much lower. Or, in this respect, we need actions to clean the collection basin, change the old pumps (energy inefficient) and fully renovate the station, which was put into operation in 1970s,’’ Ion Perju said.

Along with the representatives of the enterprises Apa-Canal Chisinau and Moldova’s Waters, the agriculture minister discussed a potential solution to increase the water level, by collecting with dam, within a project worth about seven million lei in all.

„We will analyze and will use the most efficient opportunities for improving the situation at the Vadul lui Voda station,’’ the agriculture, regional development and environment minister added.
