Seventeen new cases of COVID-19 registered in Moldova

Chisinau, 20 March /MOLDPRES/ - Ninety biological samples today were processed at the laboratory of the National Public Health Agency (ANSP), of which 17 ones were positive. Twelve out of the 17 patients have recently returned from abroad. Thus, there are 66 confirmed cases of the new-type coronavirus. Health, Labour and Social Protection Viorica Dumbraveanu made statements to this effect, following a meeting of the single command centre for the management of the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 virus.
The minister noted that eight COVID-19 cases confirmed today were from Chisinau, two cases from Sangerei, one case from Hancesti and two from Stefan Voda. Five cases are of import: Ukraine – 4 cases, Russia – 1 case.
Attending the meeting, President Igor Dodon said that the authorities were prepared to cope with all scenarios and there were enough tests and medicines. He urged the citizens to observe the authorities’ recommendations, in order to cease the spread of coronavirus.
According to the official statistics, 66 cases of infection with COVID-19, one death triggered by the virus and one case of treatment have been recorded in Moldova.
On 17 March, the parliament decreed the state of emergency on the entire territory of the country, given the spread of COVID-19.
