Sixty six COVID-19 cases confirmed in Moldova

Chisinau, 21 March /MOLDPRES/ - There are, in continuation, 66 cases of COVID-19 in Moldova, of whom 31 of import and 35 with local transmission. Most cases of infection with the new coronavirus are recorded in Chisinau, followed by the districts of Hancesti, Soroca, Ialoveni, Sangerei, etc. Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu today made statements to this effect after a meeting of the Focal Point.
The official warned that ‘’statistics shows that the number of infections with local transmission increases on the days off.’’ She called the residents to responsibility and civic solidarity, in order to get out of the COVID-19 crisis.
At the same time, the minister reiterated the recommendations which must be observed by each person. ‘’Avoid the public places. Keep the social distance of at least one metre and go outdoors only if it is vitally necessary and the people who have come from the countries with high risk of infection or contacted with an infected person should isolate themselves at home for 14 days, including from the family members, and contact the family physician. Measure the body temperature thrice per day, wash your hands with soap as often as possible, observe the cough etiquette and stay at home!’’ Viorica Dumbraveanu said.
The minister urged the citizens to observe the authorities’ recommendations and not complicate the work of the medical system and physicians and call the 112 Service at the first symptoms of disease, such as cough, fever, rhinorrhea.
The state of emergency is declared on the entire territory of Moldova on the period 17 March – 15 May 2020. During the state of emergency, the Commission for Emergency Situations issues instructions, in order to enforce more measures, which are compulsory and executory for the heads of the central and local public administration authorities, economic agents, public institutions, as well as for the citizens and other people who stay in Moldova.
