Eighty cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Moldova, most with local transmission

Chisinau, 22 March /MOLDPRES/ - Eighty cases of infection with COVID-19 have been confirmed in Moldova till 22 March, of which 34 of import and 44 with local transmission; two infected persons are from the Transnistrian region. Seven patients are in serious health condition and those eight children hospitalized record a medium evolution of the disease. Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu made statements to this effect today morning, after a meeting of the Focal Point.   

The official said that the pregnant woman, infected with COVID-19, was in a satisfactory condition and there was no risk for the foetus.  

At the same time, the health minister referred to the people who periodically were making dialysis procedures and were moving abroad to this end. ‘’All these patients are part of the risk group and it is not advisable for them to move in the current conditions. The Health Ministry coordinated the process with the providers of dialysis services and we urge all sick people who need them to resort to clinics from Moldova,’’ Viorica Dumbraveanu noted.   

The minister also pointed out tens of cases of sanctioning of private persons and legal entities, carriers on the last period, who were fined for non-observing the instructions of the authorities, imposed by the conditions of the state of emergency, showed an aggressive behavior or indicated falsehoods in medical cards.  

In the context, Viorica Dumbraveanu repeatedly called on the residents to stay at home, avoid public going out, take all protection and hygiene measures. The official also called on the residents to prove responsibility, unveil correct information to medical employees about the history of the travels and contact with infected persons, in order to prevent the spread of the infection on the territory of Moldova and protect the population’s health.
