Another 14 COVID-19 cases recorded in Moldova

Chisinau, 22 March /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 124 biological samples today were processed at the laboratory of the National Public Health Agency, of which 14 ones were positive. Ten of them are of local transmission and four ones are of import, from Ukraine and Italy. Also, there is the first case of import from Romania. Thus, there are 94 confirmed cases of new-type coronavirus in all. The state secretary at the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry, Constantin Rimes, made statements to this effect after a today evening meeting of the single command centre for the management of the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 virus.
According to the official, three cases were registered in the Chisinau municipality and Causeni district each, one person was infected in the districts Stefan Voda, Hancesti, Anenii Noi, Ialoveni each, etc. There are 38 import cases of COVID-19 and 54 ones of local transmission in Moldova in all.
The Health Ministry’s representative reiterated the call to the residents to observe the rules of preventing the disease. ‘’Our message is to help cease the spread of the virus. Stay at home, observe the self-isolation regime, avoid social contacts, observe the cough etiquette and the hands’ hygiene. As for the medical assistance, all efforts are taken; yet, the residents might help us cope with the situation easier,’’ Constantin Rimes noted.
Attending the news briefing, President Igor Dodon warned about the fact that over 60 sanctions had been registered for the non-observance of the authorities’ instructions in the conditions of state of emergency. ‘’The restrictions allowed us limiting to the minimum the import cases of coronavirus. Therefore, the state’s institutions will prevent and will penalize any attempt of non-compliance with the decisions of the National Commission for Emergency Situations,’’ the head of state added.
At the same time, Igor Dodon noted that tougher measures would be enforced, if needed; yet, the applied actions already allow managing the situation.
The state of emergency is declared on the entire territory of Moldova on the period 17 March – 15 May 2020. During the state of emergency, the Commission for Emergency Situations issues instructions, in order to enforce more measures, which are compulsory and executory for the heads of the central and local public administration authorities, economic agents, public institutions, as well as for the citizens and other people who stay in Moldova.
