Public transport to be free of charge in Chisinau, Balti in text two weeks

Chisinau, 24 March /MOLDPRES/ - The public passenger transport from Chisinau and Balti will move without taxators in the next two weeks, according to a decision by the Commission for Emergency Situations, which held a meeting today.
„We took this decision, in order to avoid the contacting of taxators with passengers, in the conditions of preventing and combating the spread of the new-type coronavirus COVID-19,’’ Prime Minister Ion Chicu said in the end of the Commission’s meeting.
According to the prime minister, the expenses for the free of charge carriage of passengers from Chisinau and Balti, by trolley buses and buses, will be borne by the competent municipal enterprises.
Also, the official noted that, during the state of emergency, the stations from these cities, as well as the transport itself would be verified by Interior Ministry employees, who will supervise whether the social distance is kept between passengers and they sit on chairs.
On the period of the state of emergency (17 March – 15 May 2020), the Commission’s instructions are compulsory and executory for the heads of the central and local public administration authorities, economic agents, public institutions, as well as for the citizens and other people who stay in Moldova.
Since the establishment of the state of emergency, the Commission has held meetings four times and took needed decisions for ensuring order in state, observance of the decisions of the authorities and diminishing the state of crisis triggered by the spread of the new-type Coronavirus COVID-19.
