125 COVID-19 cases registered in Moldova

Chisinau, 25 March /MOLDPRES/- 125 cases of COVID-19 infection were confirmed in the laboratory of the National Agency for Public Health. Of them, 45 are of import and 80 with local transmission. Most cases of new type coronavirus have been registered in the capital. Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu made the statement today.
Dumbraveanu said that most cases of COVID-19, about 40 were registered in the capital, 17 cases in Hâncești, eight cases in Căușeni and Ștefan Vodă and six cases in the localities on the left bank of the Dniester.
She thanked the medical workers and local authorities involved in stopping the COVID-19 epidemic and noted that several economic agents came up with support for the medical staff, having purchased more protective equipment.
The minister came up with repeated request to the population, especially to the elderly who are most at risk of infection, to stay at home.
Dumbrăveanu announced that 1,011 tests have been applied so far in Moldova.
On 17 March-15 May 2020, state of emergency is declared throughout the country. During this period, the National Commission for Emergencies has issued several restrictive measures for citizens and will involve police and military to monitor their compliance. The citizens and economic agents who do not obey the decisions of the commission will be sanctioned.
