Tender procedures for purchase of electricity for next year suspended

Chisinau, 25 March /MOLDPRES/- At the 24 March meeting, the National Commission for Emergencies decided to suspend the tender procedures for the purchase of electricity initiated by the regulated electricity suppliers, the distribution system operators and the transmission system operator, for the supply period 01.04.2020 – 31.03.2021.
The Commission also imposed the public service obligation to supply electricity to the Energocom Joint Stock Company, covering 100% of the needs of regulated electricity suppliers, transmission system operators, other participants in the electricity market, from a single source, for a period of three months, with the possibility of extension.
"The regulated electricity suppliers, the distribution system operators and the transmission system operator will conclude contracts for the supply of electricity with Energocom company for a 3-month period with the possibility of extension,” the decision of the Commission for Emergencies reads.
The Commission also decided that "in order to optimize the conditions of purchase of electricity, the company will ask offers from potential electricity suppliers / producers, able to cover independently and fully the electricity needs of regulated electricity suppliers, distribution system operators and transmission system operators for a period of 3 months, with the possibility of extension, based on the technical, economic and financial criteria ”.
During the state of emergency (17 March – 15 May 2020), the provisions of the Commission for Emergencies are mandatory and enforceable for the heads of central and local public administration authorities, economic agents, public institutions, as well as for citizens and others in Moldova.
