Moldovan health ministry says medical system provided with protection equipment for medical employees, medicines, consumables

Chisinau, 25 March /MOLDPRES/ - The medical system is supplied with protection equipment for medical employees, medicines and consumables. The Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS) today made statements to this effect, after the Ombudsman had issued a press release, in which he said that more medical employees were set to resign over the lack of protection equipment. The ministry denies the information set forth by the Ombudsman, stressing that it had not been verified.
„To learn whether there is really such a problem, we asked the Ombudsman to present details, so that we can intervene immediately, if needed. We were told that the information had been got from anonymous people and two hospitals were indicated, which actually have the necessary equipment and their leadership so far has not made additional requests for equipment and medicines,’’ the communiqué issued by MSMPS reads.
According to the source quoted, the medical institutions, especially the ones involved in combating the COVID-19 virus, have needed technical and material equipment for the protection of the medical employees. Also, according to the protocols of the World Health Organization (WHO), physicians are continuously trained as to the management of the confirmed COVID-19 cases.
The ministry also said that the managers of the medical and sanitary institutions were directly responsible for ensuring the functionality of the medical institutions, which includes: medical staff, medication, protection equipment and consumables. If they face problems in terms of the stock of materials, they immediately inform the MSMPS and decision-makers intervene quickly.
At the same time, as of 25 March, the medical institutions weekly report to the ministry about the supply with protection equipment and medicines. After the reports are analyzed, all medical institutions are provided with protection equipment, consumables and medication.
Also, the MSMPS leadership informed that, in order to elucidate the information unveiled by the Ombudsman, the Ministry additionally demanded joint checking of data, so that the society is informed correctly and with verified data.’’
MSMPS expresses gratitude to all medical employees, who are now in the first line in treating patients sick with COVID-19 and assures them that the effort is made to protect them.
Today morning, Ombudsman Mihai Cotorobai informed that he had received complaints from more physicians, who said that they would not be supplied with the necessary things and that they were resigning.
