Another 24 new COVID-19 cases recorded in Moldova

Chisinau, 25 March /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 153 biological samples today were processed at the laboratory of the National Public Health Agency, of which 24 proved to be positive. Three of them are of import and 21 – of local transmission. Thus, there are 149 confirmed cases of new-type coronavirus in all. Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu made statements to this effect after a today’s meeting of the single command centre for the management of the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 virus.

The minister noted that most local transmission cases had been registered in Chisinau, Soroca, Hancesti, Rascani, Stefan Voda, Ialoveni and Straseni. All people are hospitalized and the information on their health condition will be unveiled on 26 March morning.  

Attending the meeting, Prime Minister Ion Chicu called on the media, as well as the state structures’ employees not to distribute information which is not verified officially, in order to avoid cases if misinforming. He also said that the authorities had already allocated resources for buying new consignments of equipment and consumables.

State of emergency was declared all over Moldova on the period 17 March – 15 May 2020, given the COVID-19 pandemic.
