Moldovan authorities warn about swindles on charter flights in state of emergency period

Chisinau, 25 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Civil Aviation Authority (AAC) has warned about possible swindles, in order to carry out charter flights, in the conditions of crisis triggered by the COVID-19 infection. Moldova’s citizens are urged to be informed from official sources.  

According to AAC, the number of swindle cases might increase, including through social networks, which target people who are set to return home, by publishing false data on the carrying out charter flights.  A payment in advance is collected for this, on accounts held by various electronic payment systems, such as PayPal, WebMoney etc.   

„In order not to become a victim of swindle schemes, we suggest that all Moldovan citizens be cautious and be informed only from official sources on the charter flights, which are made in order to repatriate Moldova’s citizens from other states: the webpage of the Civil Aviation Authority (www.caa.md), government (www.gov.md), Moldova’s Embassy or Consulate in the concerned country (https://mfa.gov.md/sites/default/files/tabel.pdf),” AAC sources said.   

On the state of emergency period (17 March – 15 May 2020), all charter flights, through which Moldova’s citizens are evacuated from other states, are approved by the National Commission for Emergency Situations, being stipulated in the Instructions issued by this Commission and can be accessed here: https://gov.md/ro/content/informatii-privind-coronavirus.

For its part, the Civil Aviation Authority will publish information on the charter flights approved by Moldova’s Commission for Emergency Situations on the official webpage www.caa.md, as well as on AAC’s Facebook page.

Under the Instruction No 3 from 23 March of the Commission for Emergency Situations, the following charter flights have been approved so far: charter flights operator by Air Moldova: 24 March 2020 – Chisinau-Paris (Beavais)-Chisinau, 25 March 2020 - Chisinau-Paris (Beavais)-Chisinau. Charter flights operator by Flyone: 25 March 2020 – Chisinau-London (Southern)-Chisinau; 26 March 2020 – Chisinau-Istanbul-Chisinau; 26 March 2020 – Chisinau-Moscow (Vnukovo)-Chisinau.
