Moldovan economics ministry prepares anti-crisis measures

Chisinau, 27 March /MOLDPRES/ - The proposals of Moldova’s business associations for diminishing the impact of the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the measures prepared by the authorities to this end today were discussed at a videoconference held with Economics and Infrastructure Minister Serghei Railean.
According to the official, the Economics Ministry prepares a string of anti-crisis measures for diminishing the negative impact of the pandemic on the national economy. The set of measures was elaborated taking into account the actions implemented in the European countries hit by the pandemic crisis, as well as the proposals received from Moldovan entrepreneurs.
”We have assessed all problems and proposals coming from entrepreneurs to the ministry and the Economic Council under the Prime Minister and we are further open for direct communication with the business associations, in order to turn them priority for short, medium and long term. An exercise of analysis with colleagues from other public institutions comes next, in order to assess the feasibility of the implementation from budgetary sources and establishing of projects on the attraction of foreign assistance on this purpose,’’ Serghei Railean said.
The minister noted that ‘’discussions have been already started with foreign donors and partners, in order to see the opportunities of financial coverage, within the limit of the assistance package for the country, as well as of regional and international funds meant for the fight against the pandemic and the economic recession. ‘’We will act jointly with all competent institutions and will propose the final variant for examination within the Commission for Emergency Situation,’’ the economics minister said.
In the context, the associations evoked the major problems the business environment is facing and demanded intervention of the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry for a wide range of subjects as to the situation of technical unemployment, monitoring of prices, providing enterprises’ liquidities, providing the import of raw material, functionality of entities of vital importance and of providing public services. At the same time, the participants in the videoconference tackled actions for the post-crisis period.
Attending the event were business associations from the tourism and HoReCa sectors, small- and medium-sized enterprises, National Association of Restaurants and Entertainment Buildings from Moldova, Employers’ Association of the Light Industry, Foreign Investors’ Association, European Business Association, Employers’Association of Tourism Industry, National Association of Tourism Agencies, American Chamber of Commerce, Moldova’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, etc.
