No new cases of COVID-19 infection recorded in Moldova

Chisinau, 28 March /MOLDPRES/ - No new cases of infection with COVID-19 have been recorded in Moldova. Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu today made statements to this effect after a meeting of the Focal Point.
Thus, the number of infected persons confirmed remains the same – 199. As many as 143 of them are of local transmission and in 56 cases, the disease was contacted outside Moldova.
The minister noted that, in order to ease the current pressure on the health system from Chisinau, the hospitals from Balti, Comrat and Cahul would be involved in the treatment of COVID-19 patients. ‘’The activation of these institutions will reduce the pressure on the medical system from the Moldovan capital,’’ Dumbraveanu said.
The official also said that progress was made in the treatment of some ill people and that six people would be discharged from hospital today.
In the context of the days off declared by the Commission for Emergency Situations, Dumbraveanu asked the residents to stay at home.
Following a meeting of the Commission on 26 March, Prime Minister Ion Chicu said that the public sector employees would have nine days off starting from 28 March till 5 April.
