As many as 250 people sick with COVID-19 registered in Moldova

Chisinau, 29 March /MOLDPRES/ -As many as 246 biological samples today were processed at the laboratory of the National Public Health Agency, of which 32 proved to be positive. Thus, there are 263 confirmed cases of new-type coronavirus in all. Given that 13 patients have been treated, there are 250 patients sick with COVID-19. Prime Minister Ion Chicu made statements to this effect after a today’s meeting of the single command centre for the management of the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 virus.

Ion Chicu noted that only one case of all confirmed ones was of import and the other 31 – with local transmission.

PM Chicu informed that the authorities were preparing for a peak of the number of diseases and for this, they were preparing a centre of sorting people sick with COVID-19. The sorting centre will have a capacity of 700 beds; it will have a company regime and will be placed at the Moldexpo centre. The centre will be ready in the middle of the next week.

The prime minister also said that, along with the six hospitals which treat the COVID-19 patients, the hospitals from Balti and Cahul, as well as regional hospitals had been already prepared for treating this type of patients.
