Moldovan education ministry temporarily suspends children's registration in first form

Chisinau, 30 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Education, Culture and Research Ministry (MECC) today informed the education community about the temporary suspension of the stages of children’s registration in the first form for the 2020-2021 academic year, given the state of emergency in Moldova.

„We will additionally inform about the subsequent decisions in this respect,’’ MECC sources said.

Last week, the Education Ministry extended the quarantine period for pre-school children, pupils and students till 15 May.

Also, under the instructions by the National Commission for Emergency Situations, MECC suspended the holding of Republican Olympiads at the education disciplines till 18 May 2020. At the same time, decision-makers postponed the organization of testing candidates for the national school-leaving examinations, established for 30 March – 11 April, for a period due to be additionally announced.

All orders issued by the Education, Culture and Research Ministry are in accordance with the decisions of Moldova’s Commission for Emergency Situations. On the period of the state of emergency, (17 March – 15 May), the Commission’s instructions are compulsory and executory for the country’s authorities.
