Another 35 new COVID-19 cases recorded in Moldova

Chisinau, 30 March /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 169 biological samples today were processed at the laboratory of the National Public Health Agency, of which 35 proved to be positive.  Six of them are of import and 29 – with local transmission. Thus, there are 298 confirmed cases of new-type coronavirus in all. Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu made statements to this effect after a today’s meeting of the single command centre for the management of the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 virus.

The minister noted that most cases of local transmission had been registered in Chisinau, Ialoveni, Stefan Voda and on the left bank of Dniester. All people are hospitalized and two children today were discharged from hospital after they had been treated.  

The health minister specified that the hospitals from Comrat, Cahul and Nisporeni would be soon activated.

Attending the meeting, Prime Minister Ion Chicu said that the interior minister today had visited the two villages from the central Hancesti district and if no new diseases are recorded on the next days, the settlements might get out of quarantine. Chicu also said that mayors and district heads were among the people infected with COVID-19 and put in medical institutions; their duties will be taken over by other officials nominated. The PM urged the citizens to observe the authorities’ recommendations, so that Moldova can get out of the unprecedented situation triggered by COVID-19.

State of emergency is declared all over Moldova on the period 17 March – 15 May 2020, given the COVID-19 pandemic.
