Moldovan energy regulatory agency approves contracts on purchasing electric energy

Chisinau, 31 March /MOLDPRES/ - The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) today approved the contracts on the purchasing of electric energy between the stock company ENERGOCOM, state capital enterprise, Premier Energy, state capital enterprise, Premier Energy Distribution stock company, state enterprise Moldelectrica, stock company RED Nord and stock company FEE-Nord. Thus, the price for one kWh of electric energy is 0.0499 dollars or by 9 per cent less against the 2019 year and the contracts are valid for a three-month period (1 April 2020 – 30 June 2020, inclusively).

According to ANRE, the object of the contracts represents the buying of energy and electric power in order to cover the technological consumption and the losses of electric energy from the electricity networks of transportation, distribution, as well as for covering the consumption needs.

Under the Instruction No 4 of the Commission for Emergency Situations from 24 March, which set derogations from the principle of transparency and non-discrimination at the signing of contracts, established through the law on electric energy, a special procedure of purchasing electric energy on the period of the state of emergency was established, provided for in the points 17-19 of the Instruction.

Thus, the stock company ENERGOCOM was given obligation of public service of supplying electric energy with the covering of 100 per cent of the needs of the regulated providers of electric energy, operators of distribution systems and operator of the transport system, as well as of other participants in the electric energy market from a single source for a period of three months, with possibility of extension.

State of emergency was established in Moldova on the period 17 March – 15 May 2020, given the measures for preventing and combating the spread of the new-type coronavirus COVID-19. During the state of emergency, the instructions by the Commission for Emergency Situations are compulsory and executory for the authorities and private environment from the country.
