Moldovan PM chairs meeting of Commission for Emergency Situations

Chisinau, 31 March /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today summoned a meeting of the Commission for Emergency Situations. The commission members unveiled information on the evolution of the epidemiological situation and discussed the efficiency of the measures taken to prevent the spread of the infection, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
A number of 280 samples have been investigated in the last 24 hours, of which 55 proved to be positive. Most cases confirmed today are from the Chisinau municipality – 13, 10 cases are from Stefan Voda and 9 ones – from Soroca. Also, seven cases of COVID-19 were confirmed on the left bank of Dniester. Forty eight out of the 55 cases confirmed are with local transmission and seven cases are of import: 1 from Austria and six from the United Kingdom. As many as 353 cases of infection are recorded in Moldova in all, of which 22 persons have been treated.
The worrying statistics in the Stefan Voda town (11 cases), Carahasani village, Stefan Voda district (9 cases) and the Soroca city (22 cases) prompted the Commission members to take a decision to establish a quarantine regime in these regions. A larger number of policemen and servicemen will be concentrated there, in order to supervise people’s movement.
As many as 1815 people have entered Moldova and 1,038 persons left the country in the last 24 hours. At the same time, today at 21:30, an airship from Paris with 220 repatriated people from Moldova onboard will land at the Chisinau International Airport. The PM asked to efficiently enforce the new mechanism of Moldovan citizens’ repatriation also from other states from where there are more demands. It is about the United Kingdom, France, Russia, Italy, Spain, Ireland, Germany, Belgium and others. Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Oleg Tulea said that the air operators the airships of which have a bigger capacity of carrying passengers would be selected.
The evolution of the local transmission cases, along with a large number of fellow countrymen who came from states where the COVID-19 epidemic grows, prompts the maintaining of restrictive measures adopted and undertaking of actions prompting their observance.
The Commission members discussed and adopted a string of decisions meant to contribute to preventing the spread of the epidemic. The Commission for Emergency Situations approved the Instruction No 10.
