Chisinau, 1 April /MOLDPRES/ - The government, at a today’s meeting, approved a draft law on the amendment of the law on measures to implement the First Home state programme.

Among the amendments approved by the cabinet and submitted to parliament, there is also a stipulation that the age eligible for the people willing to benefit from the First Home programme will increase from 45 to 50 years.

Also, the initial contribution will be decreased to five per cent. The provision which bans the participation in the programme of persons who already have a real estate will be excluded from the contractual clauses for borrowing a loan through the First Home programme.

The approval of this draft law is prompted by the facilitation of the access of private people to the procurement of a dwelling through borrowing loans partially guaranteed by the state.

In the context, Prime Minister Ion Chicu asked the Finance Ministry to work out mechanisms of support of people who have applied for the First Home programme and are currently in financial crisis because of the state of emergency triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic.

At present, citizens with ages between 18 and 45 years can become beneficiaries of the First Home programme. The applicants should be officially employed at state institutions or private companies and should have incomes from official sources. Since the programme’s launch in March 2018 till present, 4,019 dwellings have been bought.
