Moldovan president has meeting with producers from animal, vegetal sectors

Chisinau, 2 April /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon today had a meeting with the leaders of the associations of producers from the animal and vegetal sectors of Moldova. Attending the discussions were Economics and Infrastructure Minister Serghei Railean and Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Minister Ion Perju, the presidential press service has reported.
The sides discussed more issues of the country’s supply with animal products. The head of state stressed that this was an indispensable component of the national security system, especially in the conditions of the crisis triggered by the pandemic. For this reason, the Moldovan top leadership pays priority attention to this subject.
The participants in the discussion found out that the situation as to the residents’ supply with food products was stable. At an earlier working meeting with representatives of the biggest commercial networks of Moldova, Igor Dodon received assurances that no unjustified increases in prices would be allowed.
At the same time, the officials today referred to the importance to ensure an uninterrupted production process and to continue the exports and imports of needed goods. In the context, the sides considered obstacles emerging, as well as ways of their overcoming, including by organizing negotiations with foreign partners.
In another context, the participants in the meeting pointed out that the current agricultural year was difficult because of the droughty autumn of 2019, a snowless winter, as well as of a possible drought.
In the context, the Moldovan president gave assurances to the agricultural producers that the prices for electric energy would be soon decreased; thus, this factor will not be able to negatively influence the formation of prices and the production process.
The participants in the meeting made proposals on the maximal stimulation of the online trade, including for farming products; this will lead not only to backing the farmers, but also to the enhancement of the level of the national economy’s technological development.
