Foreign affairs ministry provides information on future repatriations of Moldovans by air

Chisinau, 3 April /MOLDPRES/- Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Oleg Tulea today held a news briefing on the schedule of flights for the repatriation of Moldovan citizens from abroad, as well as the role of the ministry and diplomatic missions in organizing this process. Attending the meeting was Secretary General at the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) Eugeniu Revenco, the MAEIE press service has reported.    

Minister Oleg Tulea said that the repatriation and assistance of Moldovan citizens at risk outside Moldova was a major goal of the ministry and the country’s diplomatic missions. Thanks to the efforts of the ministry and diplomatic missions, more than 4,800 Moldovans were repatriated from various countries on the period 15 March – 2 April.   

At the news briefing, the foreign affairs minister informed about the schedule of flights for the repatriation of Moldovan citizens for the period 6-19 April. The schedule was approved under the instruction No 11 of Moldova’s Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE) from 2 April 2020.  

Thus, charter flights for the following destinations were approved for the period 6-12 April:  

·         Frankfurt – Chisinau

·         Lisbon – Chisinau

·         Madrid – Chisinau

·         Brussels – Chisinau

·         Warsaw - Chisinau

·         Dublin – Chisinau

·         London – Chisinau.

The following charter flights were approved for the period 13-19 April:

·         Amsterdam – Chisinau

·         Venice – Chisinau

·         Paris – Chisinau

·         Berlin – Chisinau

·         Roma – Chisinau

·         London – Chisinau

·         Prague- Chisinau.

Minister Tulea reiterated that all Moldova’s citizens, under the legal provisions, must have the health insurance. At the same time, the minister noted that there was possibility of additionally considering this subject on the CSE platform, in order to rule out a differentiated approach towards the citizens coming to Moldova, either by air, or by land.   

For his part, MAEIE Secretary General Eugeniu Revenco informed about the role of the ministry and diplomatic missions in the organization of this process.

According to the procedure established by CSE, Moldova’s citizens who registered in the waiting lists of the diplomatic missions and consular offices by filling in of questionnaires made available to applicants starting from 29 March 2020 will benefit from tickets for the aforementioned flights. The citizens from the following categories: students, people under medical treatment, citizens at risk, will have priority at inclusion in lists of passengers.  

The Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry reiterates that, starting from 29 March 2020, citizens can register on waiting lists for the repatriation flights by accessing the proper link for each state on the internet pages of Moldova’s diplomatic missions and consular offices.
