Eighty six new cases of Coronavirus recorded in Moldova in last 24 hours

Chisinau, 3 April /MOLDPRES/- As many as 419 biological samples today were processed at the laboratory of the National Public Health Agency (ANSP), of which 86 proved to be positive. Seven of the samples are of import and 79 – of local transmission. Thus, there are 591 confirmed cases of new-type coronavirus in all. Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu made statements to this effect after a today’s meeting of the single command centre for the management of the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 virus.
The minister said that COVID-19 today had killed another two persons. The first one was an employee of the medical system, aged 65, who had also other associate diseases, such as diabetes and cardiac problems. The second victim was 67 years old and was brought in unconscious state to the Emergency Medicine Institute on 1 April. Thus, so far, eight deaths triggered by coronavirus have been confirmed in all, of which two of medical employees.
The official noted that most people confirmed with COVID today were from Chisinau – 33, Stefan Voda district – 26 and Falesti – 4. Four cases of infection were confirmed on the left bank of Dniester. Seventeen of the confirmed cases are medical employees, of whom seven are from the Stefan Voda district hospital.
The minister said that the Criuleni hospital, Health Ministry’s Hospital, the ones from Hancesti and Anenii would be activated for the treatment of people sick with COVID-19 starting from 4 April. In a short period, the sorting centre from Moldexpo will become functional and the Constructorul rehabilitation centre is under preparation to work.
Quarantine regime is established in four settlements at present: Balceana (Hancesti), Carahasani (Stefan Voda), Stefan Voda town and Soroca municipality.
Attending the meeting, PM Ion Chicu said that, starting from 6 April, all public sector employees would resume the work, yet, in the regime earlier recommended by the authorities. The online classes will be resumed next Monday as well. Chicu asked the clergymen, as well as the believers not to go to church, in order to prevent the spread of the virus and asked citizens to avoid going out in nature.
State of emergency is declared all over Moldova on the period 17 March – 15 May, given the COVID-19 pandemic.
