Two more people died of COVID-19

Chisinau, 6 April /MOLDPRES/- Two more people have died of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, so the number of deaths reaches 17. So far, Moldova has registered 864 cases of COVID-19, 106 of them are imported and 758 with local transmission. Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu made the statement today.

In serious condition there are 76 persons, average severity 304 persons. "Unfortunately, we have two new cases of death. It's about an 81-year-old woman who died at the Institute of Emergency Medicine. A 78-year-old man, who was hospitalized on April 4 with heart disease and high blood pressure, also died,” she said.

The official said that following the recommendation of epidemiologists, would propose to the Emergencies Commission that the next two weeks be free for the budgetary.

The decision to declare the next two weeks as days-off for state employees is also supported by WHO representative in Moldova Igor Pokanevych. He noted that this will lead to a slower increase in the number of cases and will allow the medical system to be supplied with the necessary ones. He urged citizens to follow the recommendations to avoid overloading the health care system.

On 17 March – 15 May, state of emergency is declared in Moldova. Several localities in Stefan Vodă, Hâncești and Soroca were quarantined, the exits and entrances of these locations being blocked.
