Chisinau, 6 April /MOLDPRES/- Today, Prime Minister Ion Chicu attended a joint meeting with President Igor Dodon and Speaker Zinaida Greceanii. They discussed issues on the epidemiological situation and the impact of measures on the national economy, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
They considered reasoning to set up some new measures to prevent the spread of epidemic, including the possibility of declaring a new "rest day" period for state employees.
Chicu spoke about the alarming situation in Stefan Voda and Soroca districts, where the number of cases of Covid-19 infection represents one third of total cases in the country. The statistics of infected medical staff from these districts and 15 infected medical specialists from Glodeni were addressed.
The premier said that all medical staff in the country will be tested. Contracts will be concluded with the private laboratories, so that one thousand samples per day will be made. The need to identify new areas for medical care to Covid-19 patients was also discussed. The Moldexpo sorting center is ready to start its activity.
Chicu said the authorities are analyzing the transition to the practice of EU countries, whereby patients with Covid-19 in a mild form should be treated at home, in self-isolation. The measure is necessary to help optimize the resources of the medical system.
He noted that the process of distributing pensions and social benefits is finalized, they are paid according to schedule. "The economic situation is affected during this period. Revenue fell to the budget. We hope that the epidemiological situation will end in 3-4 weeks, so that the business can resume its activity.
