Chisinau, 6 April /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today summoned a meeting of the Commission for Emergency Situations (SCE). The evolution of the epidemiological situation at the end of the previous week promoted the consideration of new restriction measures, meant to prevent the spread of the infection nationally, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The CSE members discussed the increase in the number of cases confirmed on last Friday, Saturday and Sunday and the situation in the districts of Soroca, Stefan Voda and Glodeni.
Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu informed about the proposals made at a meeting of the ministry’s focal point, especially the possibility to declare the period 7-17 April as days off for the public sector employees.
Health Ministry’s specialists, jointly with World health Organization’s (WHO) representatives reasoned that this measure, accompanied by actions of persuading people to reduce the personal mobility only for vital needs, would prevent the spread of the infection. The Commission for Emergency Situations approved this decision, which provides for the continuation of the distance education process on the period 7-17 April and gives the institutions’ heads right to attract to work the strictly needed staff for ensuring the institution’s functionality.
The head of the WHO Mission in Moldova encouraged the government to continue enforcing the restrictive measures, highlighting their efficiency. The official noted that a slow pace of registration of COVID-19 cases was registered in Moldova as compared to other states.
The Commission backed the proposal to prove a one-off allowance worth 16,000 lei to the employees of the public institutions involved in the management of the epidemiological situation, infected with COVID-19. The proposal will be considered at the next cabinet meeting.
The participants in the meeting also discussed the issue of reorganization of the municipal public transport, so that crowds of people are avoided in public transport units. The ceasing of the municipal public transport would hit the capacity of the medical employees and people involved in the work of the infrastructure for producing and sale of food products and household chemical goods.
