As many as 101 cases of infection with COVID-19, two deaths recorded in Moldova in last 24 hours

Chisinau, 6 April /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 192 biological samples today were processed at the laboratory of the National Public Health Agency (ANSP), of which 101 proved to be positive. Thus, there are 965 confirmed cases of new-type coronavirus in all. Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu made statements to this effect after a today’s meeting of the single command centre for the management of the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 virus.

According to the official, four of the 101 cases are of import and 97 – of local transmission. ‘’We have four import cases – two ones from the United Kingdom, one from France and one from Russia. Also, we have 97 local transmission cases: Chisinau 23, Stefan Voda 16, Glodeni 11, Ialoveni 8, Orhei 7, Taraclia and the left bank of Dniester – 6 each, Falesti 4, Hancesti 3, Anenii Noi, Cahul Nisporeni – 2 each, Balti, Calarasi, Causeni, Criuleni, Leova, Straseni, Telenesti – one case each. No additional case has been recorded in Soroca,’’ Viorica Dumbraveanu said.      

The health minister informed about two deaths: a 30-year-old person from Chisinau, ill with diabetes, hospitalized on 4 April and 70-year-old person from Stefan Voda, who was transferred to Chisinau in extremely serious condition on 4 April.

Prime Minister Ion Chicu said that today decision-makers ruled that the public sector employees would have days off till 17 April. ‘’The measure is one demanded by epidemiologists and it already yielded results last week, when the public sector employees had days off,’’ Chicu said.

State of emergency is declared all over Moldova on the period 17 March – 15 May 2020, given the COVID-19 pandemic. More settlements from Stefan Voda, Hancesti and Soroca were placed in quarantine regime and the entries and exits from these settlements were blocked.
