Moldova to switch to fourth scenario of managing COVID-19 pandemic

Chisinau, 7 April /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova might switch to the fourth scenario of managing the pandemic, with more than 1,000 persons infected with coronavirus. President Igor Dodon today made statements to this effect after a meeting of the Supreme Security Council (CSS).
According to the head of state, Moldova is ready for this scenario and has, at least for a while, the needed medication and consumables. At the same time, more than 50,000 employees work in the state and private medical systems, who are ready to get involved in the treatment of the COVID-19 infection.
„From the very beginning, we evaluated several possible scenarios of evolution of the spread of coronavirus in Moldova. Today, we will switch to the fourth one and we understand that, once we enter this scenario, we get into the peak zone of this pandemic. We need medicines, physicians and equipment,’’ Dodon said.
The Moldovan president noted that, on the next three days, more consignments of humanitarian assistance would be brought to Moldova from China and Turkey. At the same time, medicines are additionally imported from Ukraine and Romania. As far as the consumables are concerned, such as masks, visors and costumes, a part of the needed quantity is produced in the country.
Dodon specified that, as for the patients’ supply with ventilation apparatus, there are 500 such devices in state institutions and another several apparatus are in private medical institutions and, if necessary, they can be used in the fight with COVID-19.
Igor Dodon also said that, at the today’s meeting, CSS had considered also subjects on people’s supply with food products and ruled that there were no premises for the increase in prices for the essential products. At the same time, the Council members discussed the criminal situation in Moldova.
