Chisinau, 7 April /MOLDPRES/ - The crisis triggered by COVID-19 has already hit the world economy and Moldova will not be an exception; for this reason, the priorities established for this year will be changed. The authorities will do their utmost for the citizens to take their salaries, pensions and social benefits. President Igor Dodon made statements to this effect at the end of a meeting of the Supreme Security Council (CSS) today.
According to Dodon, in the most optimistic variant, Moldova’s Gross Domestic Product will decrease by 3 per cent, which will trigger a cut of 7.3 billion lei against the revenues scheduled. ‘’The priorities for the next period will be the payment of salaries, pensions, social benefits, unemployment benefits, bonuses for the medical system and support for the enterprises which pay salaries in continuation. The rest of the expenses will be cut to the maximum,’’ Igor Dodon said.
The head of state noted that he had asked the cabinet to come up with a new strategy of development of Moldova’s medical system. ‘’We will reallocate additional financial means for the medical system and afterwards, following the pandemic, we will re-prioritize the expenses for this sector,’’ Dodon added.
