National Bank of Moldova launches new circulation coin dedicated to 30th anniversary of Moldovan flag's adoption

Chisinau, 21 April /MOLDPRES/ - The National Bank of Moldova (BNM), starting from today, puts in circulation a coin with a nominal value of 10 lei, on the occasion of the State Flag Day, marked in Moldova on 27 April.
The coin is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the tricolor flag and completes, on the whole, the series of commemorative circulation coins, which also includes two emissions of this kind. The first coin was issued by BNM in 2018, when Moldova marked the 25th anniversary of the national currency’s introduction and the second one – in 2019, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the laws on the state language and Latin script, the BNM press service has reported.
The new coin is made of steel, plated with nickel and brass, which gives it a bi-metallic aspect: silvery and golden and there are 250,000 copies of this coin.
The obverse of the coin has in its centre a stylized picture of the hoisted tricolor flag, in which Moldova’s Coat of Arms is encircled and there is the following inscription in a bow of circle: 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF ADOPTION OF REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA’S TRICOLOUR.
On the reverse side, 30 stars are engraved in bow of circle, which symbolize 30 years since the adoption of the tricolor flag and the inscription, 10 lei, is in the central part and the year of the issuance, 2020, - in the upper side.
The coin contains the letters R and M – acronym of the state’s name –Republic of Moldova, in in hidden image.
The new coin will circulate simultaneously with the banknote of 10 lei and the metal coin with the same nominal value, including the commemorative coins from 2018 and 2019.
