Sixty six new COVID-19 cases recorded in Moldova in last 24 hours

Chisinau, 21April /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 241 biological samples have been processed in Moldova in the last 24 hours, of which 66 ones proved to be positive. Thus, there are 2,614 confirmed cases of new-type coronavirus in all. Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu made statements to this effect after a today’s meeting of the Single Command Centre for the management of the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 virus.

According to Dumbraveanu, one case is of import, from the United Kingdom, and 65 – with local transmission. Most cases, 20, were registered on the left bank of Dniester, 17 ones in Chisinau, six cases in Soroca and Falesti each. As many as 505 people have been treated and 72 ones died so far.   

Attending the meeting, Prime Minister Ion Chicu said that, starting from 27 April, the Public Services Agency will be allowed to provide a string of services, among which also the processing and issuance of certificates of birth, of marriage, as well as of certificates of registration. Also, the sale of goods in catering regime and in package will be permitted as of 22 April.

The PM noted that the participants in a today’s meeting of the Commission for Emergency Situations had discussed a possible increase in the number of charter flights to Moldova. ‘’If the situation remains the same and the number of cases does not increase, we want starting from next Friday to relax some restrictions for the economic agents, as well as for the citizens,’’ the prime minister added.

State of emergency is declared all over Moldova on the period 17 March – 15 May 2020, given the COVID-19 pandemic.
