Emergency loan provided by IMF reaches accounts of National Bank of Moldova

Chisinau, 23 April /MOLDPRES/ - The financial means provided by the International Monetary Fund for the management of the emergency epidemiological situation, triggered by the consequences of COVID-19, have reached accounts of the National Bank of Moldova (BNM).
The loan’s sum is of about 172, 500, 000 special drawing rights, which represents 233.9 million dollars. Under the agreement with IMF, zero interest rate is applied on 78 million dollars and the concerned sum is seen to be returned during ten years. Another 156 million dollars is provided at an interest rate of 1.5 per cent, and is to be returned during five years, BNM sources said.
After the agreement’s ratification in Moldova’s parliament, the money will be transferred to the Finance Ministry, in order to support the medical system, the residents and the economy of Moldova.
