As many as 148 new COVID-19 cases recorded in Moldova in last 24 hours

Chisinau, 23 April /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 792 biological samples have been processed in Moldova in the last 24 hours, of which 148 ones proved to be positive. Thus, there are 2,926 confirmed cases of new-type coronavirus in all. Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu made statements to this effect after a today’s meeting of the Single Command Centre for the management of the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 virus.
According to Dumbraveanu, there is one case are of import, from Russia, and1 47 – with local transmission. Most infection cases were recorded in Chisinau - 35, Orhei – 15, Causeni – 13, seven cases in Stefan Voda and the left bank of Dniester each, Edinet, Hancesti and Floresti with five cases each. A number of 661 people have been treated so far.
According to data by the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry, another two deaths triggered by COVID-19 were registered today. It is about a 54-year-old woman from Taraclia. Hospitalized at the Republican Clinical Hospital on 13 April, she was suffering from hepatic insufficiency with cytolitic syndrome, severe thrombocytopenia and renal insufficiency. The second victim of the virus was a 68-year-old man from the Rascani district. He was hospitalized in serious condition at the Rascani hospital on 13 April and was suffering from cardiovascular insufficiency. Thus, there are 79 people dead because of complications triggered by the coronavirus.
State of emergency is declared all over Moldova on the period 17 March – 15 May 2020, given the COVID-19 pandemic.
