Moldovan parliament approves rectification of social insurance budget law

Chisinau, 24 April /MOLDPRES/- The law on the state social insurance budget for 2020 has been amended. Parliament on Thursday approved a draft amendment, submitted by the Government.
According to the draft, the state social insurance budget for this year will amount to 23,869,815.4 thousand lei in terms of revenues and 23,869,815.4 thousand lei in expenditures. Thus, revenues and expenses will be increased by 378,799.3 thousand lei.
Compulsory state social insurance contributions will decrease by 682,300 thousand lei.
At the same time, the expenses for social benefits will be increased by 367,947.3 thousand lei, amounting to 23,424,722.9 thousand lei. For the protection programs for the unemployed, the expenses will be increased by 167,978.6 thousand lei. Thus, the unemployment benefit will be increased up to the minimum amount of 2,775 lei for about 1,387 beneficiaries. Also, for the uninsured unemployed are provided expenses of 164,068.8 thousand lei for about 39,045 beneficiaries.
The draft also includes the increase of expenses for the implementation of support measures during the state of emergency of disadvantaged families through the Social Assistance Program, as the increase of the minimum guaranteed monthly income to 1,300 lei and the increase of the minimum guaranteed monthly income for children from 50% to 75%.
The measures implemented during the state of emergency will have an impact on 47,700 families receiving social assistance by increasing the average monthly benefit to 1,520 lei, as well as on about 25,000 families to be included in the social assistance program. The additional cost for implementing the new measures will be about 39 million lei per month.
The expenses for the social protection of some categories of citizens will be increased by 1,564.2 thousand lei. The increase refers to the right to a monthly state allowance from 250 lei to 500 lei to the spouses participants in the World War II or actions in peacetime, fallen in debt, or participants in liquidation of consequences of Chernobyl catastrophe or disabled people from the war.
