Chisinau, 24 April /MOLDPRES/- The Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure (MEI) announced today that starting with 23 April, Giurgiulesti - Galati border crossing point was reopened for freight carriers.
"In the context of overloading Leușeni - Albita border crossing point for access to transit routes in Romania, MEI has issued an appeal to the Romanian Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure and Communications requesting the reopening of access through additional border crossing points", the sources said.
"Giurgiulesti - Galati border crossing point is a strategic one for our country. Now, freight carriers can enjoy an additional crossing point and it will be possible to prevent the formation of queues, reducing the waiting time ", Sergiu Railean, Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, said.
Thus, to ease the traffic through Leușeni - Albița border crossing point and avoid congestion, for the Moldovan transport operators, the access to the transit routes on the Romanian territory and through the Giurgiulești - Galați point was reopened.
