As many as 184 new COVID-19 cases recorded in Moldova in last 24 hours

Chisinau, 24 April /MOLDPRES - As many as 857 biological samples have been processed in Moldova in the last 24 hours, of which 184 ones proved to be positive. Thus, there are 3,110 confirmed cases of new-type coronavirus in all. Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu made statements to this effect after a today’s meeting of the Single Command Centre for the management of the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 virus.

According to Dumbraveanu, there is one case are of import, from Russia, and 183 – with local transmission. Most infection cases were recorded in Chisinau – 59, Vulcanesti – 47, Cahul – 13, left bank of Dniester – 8 cases, Straseni – 7, Causeni, Edinet, Orhei – 4 cases each.

The minister noted that, in the last several days, intensive testing had been made 755 people had been treated so far and 84 deaths were registered.

Attending the meeting, President Igor Dodon said that he would propose to the Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE) that the public sector employees remain at home till 4 May, excepting some employees who provide services to residents. Also, CSE will be suggested that, as of 27 April, walks in parks are allowed with the observance of distance and in groups of no more than 3 people. Access to playgrounds and sports fields will be banned. At the same time, the president specified that he would suggest that, starting from 27 April, the non-food trade units of all types be opened, except for the markets and commercial centres.

State of emergency is declared all over Moldova on the period 17 March – 15 May 2020, given the COVID-19 pandemic.
