As many as 3,110 cases of infection with COVID-19 confirmed in Moldova

Chisinau, 25 April /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 3,110 cases of infection with the new coronavirus are confirmed in Moldova today, based on laboratory testing. A number of 139 cases out of the total number are of import and 2,971 – with local transmission. Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu made statements to this effect at a news briefing today.
According to Dumbraveanu, 14 people are with assisted breathing in hospitals at present. ‘’Regretfully, we have eight people in extremely serious condition. As many as 215 people are in serious condition, 555 – in medium gravity condition and the others are in satisfactory state,’’ the official said.
Viorica Dumbraveanu noted that, following the laboratory tests processed, 70 people had been discharged from hospitals. As many as 825 people have been treated in all. ‘’During this week, I have been discussing about the pregnant women diagnosed with COVID-19, put in hospitals. We also have cases of discharging, treatment of these persons,’’ the minister specified.
In the context, a head of department at the Chisinau-based Maternity Hospital No 2, Maria Znagovan, said that there were 25 patients in the maternity hospital, of whom 14 pregnant women. ‘’Nine of these women are tested positive for COVID-19 and are undergoing treatment. Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have tested 84 pregnant women. Twenty eight of them have been treated and discharged and nine pregnant women further undergo treatment,’’ Znagovan also said.
Emergency state is declared all over Moldova on the period 17 March – 15 May 2020, given the COVID-19 pandemic. Settlements from Stefan Voda, Glodeni, Soroca, Edinet were placed in quarantine; the exits and entries to these settlements are blocked.
