Chisinau, 27 April /MOLDPRES/- Moldova is among the more than 100 countries that have responded to the global call to participate in the recovery of the post-pandemic tourism sector. Thus, four innovative solutions proposed by our country will complete the list of over a thousand projects registered in the Healing Solutions Tourism Challenge campaign launched by the World Tourism Organization (WTO).

The WTO initiative consists of a call to create solutions that could contribute to the rapid recovery of the industry. The campaign is taking place in the context in which globally the tourism sector is facing the biggest losses caused by COVID-19. In Moldova, the campaign is supported by the Investment Agency and the associative environment, represented by the TEKWILL Project.

"We are convinced that rethinking strategies and business processes through digital solutions would help us meet the challenges in the field and revive the tourism sector. Through its activities, the Republic of Moldova was the only country among WTO members that partnered with the associative environment to promote the global initiative. We encouraged participation at national level, since the platform will not only identify the most viable solutions with the possibility of replicating them in various countries, but also opens up opportunities for visibility and international affirmation for those registered ", director-general of the Investment Agency Rodica Verbeniuc said.

The selected projects will enter a digital booklet for distribution to 150 ministries around the world, and the presentation of ideas will be held in the most innovative space - the international business school IE University WOW Room, with the participation of WTO Secretary General Zurab Pololikashvili. At the same time, winners will enter the most notorious innovative community (UNWTO Innovation Network) which has over five thousand startups in tourism, 930 corporations, 300 public institutions, 50 educational institutions, 30 incubators and 200 investors.

The WTO campaign aimed at startups, creators of innovative solutions, IT and tourism-related entrepreneurs, who have ideas and projects ready to be implemented and could counteract the effects of the COVID-19 epidemic on the hospital sector.

"Digitization is becoming a global trend, as information technology helps identify innovative solutions that will break down important sectors of the economy. The WTO campaign thus becomes an opportunity for both the IT and tourism sectors. We join our partners and support IT initiatives to mitigate the consequences of the pandemic on tourism and create new ways of exploring this sector, " TEKWILL Project Director Ana Chirița said.

The four projects proposed by our country came from representatives of Medical Tourism Review, Let's go to the country, Visit.md and Teleportravel.
