Moldova, Romania mark tenth anniversary of establishment of strategic partnership for European integration

Chisinau, 27 April /MOLDPRES/ - The tenth anniversary of the establishment of the Strategic Partnership between Romania and Moldova for Moldova’s European Integration is marked today.
A press release issued by Romania’s Embassy in Chisinau reads that Bucharest stresses the inestimable value of the joint cultural heritage – an integral part of the European heritage, which establishes the privileged relation between Romania and Moldova, as well as the fact that Moldova’s natural place is in the European family.
“Romania highlights the results of the implementation of the Strategic Partnership in those 10 years covered since its signing, among which: the entrance into force of the Association Agreement with the European Union and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement, Romania being the first EU state to ratify it; liberalization of the visa regime with the European Union for Moldova’s citizens; covering of important stages in the modernization of the institutions and professionalization of the public administration in line with the European standards; increase in the economic exchanges and access of Moldova’s goods to the markets of the European, first of all, to Romania; multiplication of opportunities opened for students, culture people and scientists, as well as their connection to the European education, culture and science space; operationalization of the bilateral agreement on the implementation of the programme on technical and financial assistance based on a non-refundable financial aid worth 100 million euros provided by Romania to Moldova; implementation of an agreement on refundable financial assistance amounting to 150 million euros, provided by Romania; construction of the Iasi-Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline,’’ the communiqué also reads.
The same document specifies that Romania will continue backing the achievement of the fundamental goal represented by Moldova’s European integration, the only able to ensure the economic and social development of Moldova for the direct benefit of the citizens.
In the last years, Romania has financed more projects for Moldova, among which the renovation of more than 1,100 kindergartens; a donation of 196 school buses for education institutions; education scholarships; training programmes for teachers; summer camps for pupils and teachers; restoration of culture buildings; operationalization of the Mobile Emergency Service for Resuscitation and Extrication (SMURD) in Moldova; cooperation programmes; exchanges of experience and good practices at the level of all central public administration institutions.
