PM says Moldova grateful to Hungary for multidimensional assistance

Chisinau, 28 April /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova appreciates and is grateful to Hungary for the assistance provided on various segments, provided for in the strategic partnership signed in last March. Prime Minister Ion Chicu made statements to this effect at a news briefing held jointly with Hungarian Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Péter Szijjártó in Chisinau today.
In particular, the Moldovan PM thanked for the consignment of aid provided by the government of Hungary to Moldova. ‘’This support, brought by a special plane today – one hundred thousands of masks and 5,000 protection equipment for employees of the medical system, is quite necessary and will make our physicians more protected, helping them to provide qualified assistance to Moldova’s citizens, in the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic,’’ Chicu said.
The official expressed gratitude to the Budapest cabinet and for the support on other dimensions. In the context, the prime minister highlighted the backing for Moldova on the European integration way, consultative assistance of Hungarian experts in the field of public money management and agriculture sector, etc.
The prime minister referred also to a loan worth 100 million euros, provided by Hungary to Moldova’s business environment. ‘’This support is already operational, being at the disposal of economic agents from Moldova and it are quite useful for them,’’ Ion Chicu said.
For his part, Péter Szijjártó noted that Moldova was a partner of Hungary and his country would back Chisinau’s initiatives on the European integration way.
The Hungarian foreign affairs and trade minister today paid a working visit to Moldova. At a meeting with Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Oleg Tulea, the Hungarian diplomacy head tackled ways of boosting the Moldovan-Hungarian relations in diverse fields of common interest, including the cooperation in managing the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic.
During his visit to Chisinau, the Hungarian official delivered a consignment of humanitarian assistance with protection medical equipment, offered to Moldova by the government of Hungary.
On 12 March 2020, Prime Ministers Ion Chicu and Viktor Orban signed the Joint Declaration for Strategic Partnership between Moldova and Hungary in Chisinau. The declaration considers Hungary’s capacity of European Union member and Moldova’s goal of European integration and the importance of boosting the political and multidimensional dialogue between the two countries.
