Chisinau, 13 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldovan government today approved a decision of a draft law on the cancellation of the national school-leaving examinations in the general education, the 2020 session.
The decision was taken following a proposal by the Education, Culture and Research Ministry, which ruled to cancel the national school-leaving exams for the 2019-2020 academic year.
„The emergency situation demands emergency solutions and the current reality sometimes obliges to measures which one would not like to have to take. Our decision was not taken easily. We weighed every aspect; we have chosen out of all possible scenarios; we analyzed each situation separately and found out that this is the best one in the emerged conditions,’’ Education Minister Igor Sarov said.
According to the official, the school-leaving diplomas from this year, both for the high school and the lyceum stage, will be issued based on the annual average marks and will have the same legal value as the acts from the previous years.
For his part, Prime Minister Ion Chicu said that ‘’the virus has not gone’’ and the decisions taken by the authorities must take into account, first of all, the health of both the pupils and teachers.’’
